I am Thankful

I have been ridiculously stressed for the past month or so. I had my annual well woman exam in January, and my doctor found a lump in my left breast. I have a condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which makes life oh so much fun, but will often lead to Fibrocystic Breast Disorder (no biggie, just annoying). My doc said she was pretty sure is was just a fibroid, but wanted to send me for an ultrasound just in case. I didn't get freaked out about this, because she was pretty calm, and didn't act like it was a huge rush.

I scheduled an appointment for an ultrasound in her office on a Saturday. When I get there, the lady is like, "Get undressed from the waist down and hop up on the table." I'm like, "Uhhh, this is a breast ultrasound!?!?!?" She looks at me like I am from Mars and tells me they don't do those in the office. Then why did they schedule it there? Crazies. So, I scheduled another ultrasound at a local imaging center and after I had the procedure done, they told me it would be 3 days before they got the results back to my doctor.

Three weeks later, I finally get someone to call me back from my doctor's office. When someone tells you there is a lump in your breast, you can wait calmly for about a week. After that, your brain becomes panic-stricken and you start to imagine the worst. The stress of this mess has caused a lot of problems physically for me the past two weeks, as apparently, I have zero coping skills. So, I finally hear back that everything was negative (in a good way - all things normal). Yay.

I am so thankful that I am healthy. The possibilities were scary, and not something I ever want to deal with again.

The Comings and Goings of Life

I really haven't had much exciting to blog about lately. Last week, I threw my back out again. Right on schedule, it seems, as it happens every year in February. The next day, my car threw it's back out, so to speak. I drive a Lincoln Town Car, and it has an air suspension system, rather than springs, and my air bags went out. Always fun. So my poor car spent a week with the mechanic.

Last weekend I spent Saturday and Sunday at Monica's house slumber party style helping her organize & pack things away to get their house ready to put on the market (with Bayou Realtor's top listing agent - Steve Cates). We had a really good time and got a lot accomplished. Their house is now on the market and looks really promising.

I finally got my car back yesterday, so I am loving the freedom of transportation. It completely sucks to be dependent on others to get around. Today my back is acting up again, so it is time to make a trip to the Chiropractor. Good times.

Saturday night we are going out to dinner and to hear Steve's dad's friend Rex play at the piano bar in the steak house, so I should have some fun pictures to share after that.

Madison is growing like a weed. She turned 8 months old last week and is not only crawling (and by "crawling" I mean motoring around at top speed while we chase her constantly), but is also pulling up on anything she can. Sarah said she has also been practicing her "hi hi" wave and is now doing this under her chin ~ Little Rascals style. I can't wait to see it!!

Whew!

Brand New Shiny Toy

So, it's not so much a toy, as it is a new laptop. I saw some great President's Day sales going on this week, and decided to get a new piece of technology for my own. My previous laptop is 6 years old (aka a dinosaur) and our desktop has been around over 7 years. What can I say, we are behind in the times. I love new computers.

I am hoping to get some digital scrapbooking done now that I have a computer than runs faster than the speed of smell.

Short Films that are Funny

These are some awesome short films created by my brother's good friend. I am putting them up for a limited time, so my sister can see them from work. I don't want to step on toes! Great job, Ramsey Brothers!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone reading my blog faithfully (even if you never comment :-) ). I hope everyone spends the day with people they love.

I know when I get home tonight, I will hear those words I long to hear every year....

"Um, I didn't get you anything." LOL

Enjoy!

**Update: The actual conversation went like this (via cell phone): "So, do you want me to spend the $4 or $5 on a card, or just tell you Happy Valentine's Day?"
Ahh, romance! [Swoon]

Popcorn and Why it is NOT for work

Ok people. The popcorn button on the microwave is there for a reason. At least once a week someone in my office "cooks" popcorn around 3:00 pm. And when I say "cooks", I mean burns. And not just slightly burns. The wonderful thing about working in a cubicle environment is that everyone is so willing to share. Share their innapropriate conversations, funky food smells, cackling laughter, and, of course, the rank odor of singed popcorn. I am about to vomit.

So, please... leave your popcorn at home. Or learn how to work a microwave.

PS - Before you call the popcorn-haters police on me, I am truly a fan of popcorn. Just not of the supernova variety.
