Forever Friends

I really believe that people are brought into your life at the exact moment you need them. Sometimes when those people arrive, you know they are short-timers and will serve a purpose and then go back out again. Then there are those people who come into your life and you just know that they should be there forever. I have recently formed such a friendship, and it is really amazing.

I am so thankful to this person for their support and friendship at a time when I could really use it. I hope that I can continue to provide the same support and friendship in exchange.

Alone...

Hello friends!

I know my posts have been irregular lately. I was sick for a week, then was without a voice for almost a week. I am still fighting with the hoarseness - which is odd for me. Usually I have my singing voice back by now, but I am still without it. That drives me batty, as I love to sing.

So - What's been going on... Steve left on Wednesday for his trip to Alaksa. He is going for roughly 4 weeks, so I have the place to myself! My dad came to visit for the first few days and he helped me get the house cleaned and organized a little since things have been so hectic lately. He left yesterday morning. I love having the house to myself. It really gives me a chance to breathe. I still have a lot of clearning out and organizing to do, but I have plenty of time to do it in.

Let me also say that a few weeks ago I purchased a Wii system! I bought it so I could play Rock Band (Along the lines of Guitar Hero but it also has drums and a microphone). I have been hooked ever since. I just finished my solo tour on the guitar (on Easy) and have moved on to Medium. I am also slightly better at the drums, so I am having a blast with that. Since I don't have my full voice register back, I have yet to attempt the microphone. My friend Lori has been playing with me and we are thinking of auditioning people to fill the other two slots in our band. We are thinking of taking the band on the road.... to Dollywood. Don't ask. LOL

Things have been super hectic at work. My manager is currently working to get me a promotion, which would be pretty sweet. I am keeping my fingers crossed! I teach a new class this week, so hopefully that will go well. I am also currently finishing an article on employee loyalty that we are hoping will get picked up by national nursing magazines. I will be sure to post it when it does!

Baby Madison is now running (literally!) and we are running to keep up with her. I have watched her some the past few weeks and she just gets cuter every time I see her. Her birthday pictures from June are on my Smugmug site. I have a few more pictures and I will try to get them uploaded this week.

I got my hair done again on Friday. I will try to get new pictures uploaded soon. I really like it!!

Anyway... that is all for now. I will try to post more often, as I am sure there are a few of you out there who are always looking for something new to read. I know, because I am visiting your blogs waiting impatiently for a new post... and then remind myself that I haven't been posting regularly either. Ah well.

Congrats to the Ramsey Bros. for becoming a YouTube partner! If you haven't checked out their videos... I highly recommend them. Warning... you may need to invest in some Depends before watching. Funny, funny stuff.

Later!

Feeling Better but Still Froggy

I ended up staying home all week last week and didn't go back to work until Monday. I had a good 4th of July with my friend Lori and her daughter, Maddie. Saturday I watched my niece Maddy all day and really enjoyed spending time with her. She is walking now and is super sweet. She loves giving kisses, especially if she is trying to get away with something. Priceless!

On Saturday, I was feeling better, but I guess I had coughed so much that I started losing my voice. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday it was completely gone and I couldn't manage above a whisper. Yesterday it sounded like I swallowed a goose! I felt like a 13 year old boy going through his voice change. Not pretty! Today my voice is coming back a little strong. Thank God, because I neeeed to talk! LOL

Hopefully by the end of the weekend, I will be as good as new!

Update: Sick and Stupid

Well, I attempted to go to work yesterday even though I was still feeling crummy. After an hour or so, I realized that I was still really sick. But, I wanted to stick it out until my doctor's appointment that afternoon. I spent the day coughing the black cough of death until it was time to leave.

I ended up waiting over an hour in the waiting room to see my doctor. Side note - I bumped into my friend, Toni, while in the waiting room. Small world! Anyway, I finally got in to see the doctor and he told me that I have an upper respiratory infection, "but not quite bronchitis" and that I came in at a good time. Thank God because I don't want to feel any worse than I already do! He prescribed me a Z-pack and sent me on my way.

So, today I decided not to infect the entire office and stayed home to rest. I may stay home again tomorrow because I don't want to prolong the illness any further than I have to. Ugh. Hopefully in a few days I will be back to my old self! Until then, I will be lounging in the land of cough drops!
