Cozumel - Day 4

March 18, 2008

Well, I haven't mentioned the one downside to our beautiful Mexican villa ~ the terrible sewage smell coming from Mike & Francis' room. It seeped out into the courtyard and into my and Steve's room. It was HORRIBLE. Honestly, the best part of Villa Maya was the view and ambiance outside and the cook service. The inside wasn't anything to write home about.

So, this morning we had the final straw. The smell in "Pooville" (as we have come to call it) was so bad that Mike & Francis actually had to sleep outside. I woke up sick from smelling the Bog of Eternal Stench all night long. So, the management company decided that rather than making us endure another stinky minute, they would move us to another house. We drove out this morning to check it out and were blown away at how beautiful it was. We went home and everyone packed immediately. We were out within 30 minutes.

We got settled and hopped in the beautiful fresh water pool overlooking the ocean for a rousing game of keep-away with the splash balls. After our swim, we came in and cleaned up for a delicious surf & turf dinner (we have a new cook service for the rest of the week). The meal was amazing!! Now we are all kicked back and spread out, now that there is more room and everyone isn't sitting on top of each other. We are a little further away from the water now, but have a much better living situation. We have to cross the road and we are on the beach (before, we just jumped off the edge of the backyard.)

I think we will check out the beach tomorrow. I am officially burned on my back, minus a small patch where I could actually spray the sunblock onto my back myself. Lesson learned ~ ask for help!!
