Cozumel - Day 7

March 21, 2008

Today was our last full day in Mexico and it was a little bittersweet. We had all had such a great time and didn't want it to end, and were also ready to be heading back to America. We went on one last shopping trip in the morning on the Other Side of the island where I haggled with the salesman on a Mexican silver & Obsidian bracelet for Madison (once she gets older, of course). We also enjoyed one more ride around the island to see the huge waves on the ocean side.

Once we made it back to Villas los Uvas, we learned that we had an unwelcomed visitor while we were out. Apparently, the villa was so beautiful that a local tarantula decided he wanted to come inside! Fortunately, someone caught him before he made it in and tossed him over into the "jungle" (aka weeds). There will be pictures of this little guy soon. Creepy!!!

Mary and I decided to make the most of our last day by laying out next to the pool soaking up some rays. We also lounged around in the pool on floats until it was time to get ready for our last excursion on the pirate boat. We rushed into town to meet up with the cruise, but when we got there, we realized that they were trying to pull a bait & switch. We had signed up for the 2-hour cruise with snacks & open bar ($35 per person), but when we got there it was a Lobster dinner cruise for 4 hours ($70 per person)! With 7 people, we decided to do a little shopping instead. We bought the last of our gifts for the folks back home and headed back to the villa. Our cooks, Jenny & Toro, made a wonderful Mexican feast for our last night on the island. Unfortunately, I wasn't very hungry, so I just sat around and talked with everyone.

It was time to pack and get ready to leave the next day. I was really tired, so I ended up going to sleep about 9pm.
